Singapore job market sees increase in real estate and engineering roles

Singapore’s job market is experiencing a rise in demand for real estate roles and civil engineers, according to data from Indeed.

Over the past three months, postings for real estate roles grew by 16%, while civil engineering positions saw an increase of 31%.

This surge contrasts with the general trend of cooling labour demand, which experienced a sixth consecutive month of decline, falling by 1.8% in April compared to March.

The healthcare sector suffered the greatest drop, with all roles, except nursing, facing decreases in job postings.

Despite this overall cooling, job postings remain higher than pre-pandemic levels, illustrating a robust labour market in the country, according to Callam Pickering, APAC Senior Economist at Indeed.

Pickering also warned that global economic conditions, including high inflation and rising interest rates, might impact Singapore’s labour market in the second half of the year.
