Lack of skilled talent is one of the key hiring challenges faced by Malaysian employers, but one driver of that may be a lack of training opportunities for those already in employment.
Around 85% of Malaysians believe that employers should offer learning and development training programmes to meet wider industry demand. However, there is a big gap between that need and what is actually provided, as Randstad’s most recent Workmonitor Survey has revealed.
It uncovered that only 36% of Malaysian employees received new training last year.
Additionally, 61% of Malaysian employees wanted to develop their skills in order to be more capable and productive.
“Employers must invest in upskilling their employees in order to improve the overall Malaysian workforce,” the global recruitment company said. “It is the employer’s responsibility to work with experts or improve the capabilities of their internal learning and development team so that they can upskill their employees through relevant and useful training courses.”
