Demand surges for Philippine staff and contractors

Flexible working practices are becoming normalised across the Philippines, according to recruitment consultancy Robert Walters. This is making the Philippine labour market increasingly attractive to both multinational companies and start-ups operating in the market.

“In 2022, international companies looked at de-centralising functions in order to respond to market specific uncertainties,” Robert Walters Philippines director Alejandro Perez-Higuero said recently. “As a result, businesses began to build shared services centres in the Philippines, particularly for technology and support functions.”

This trend is expected to continue into the current year, he added, with more companies seeing advantages in moving their operations to the Philippines.

“As more and more startups — especially those that specialise in technology, finance, and digital services — enter the market this year, we expect the Philippines to strengthen its position in the global workforce market by the end of 2023,” Perez-Higuero said.

There will be a high demand for hiring professionals with international experience, who are used to working with different stakeholders, and possess soft skills.
