The Cabinet of Thailand recently endorsed an increase in fees of THB 150 (USD 4.31) for each travelers entering via water or land transport, and THB 300 (USD 8.62) for air arrivals.

Minister of Tourism and Sports Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn explained that travelers via water and land tended to stay in the country for shorter periods of time.

Visitors who do not stay in Thailand overnight are exempt from this fee, regardless of their mode of transportation.

The government expects to collect approximately THB 3.9 billion (USD 112 million) per year from the increase.
