IHG Thailand launches initiative to employ more people with disabilities

IHG Hotels & Resorts is partnering with Steps, an organisation focused on empowering employers to unlock the potential of neurodivergent individuals.

This year, five IHG hotels in Bangkok will participate in a programme to become ‘disability inclusion ready’.

The initiative includes workplace accessibility plans, disability training, inclusivity champions, recruitment and onboarding of disabled employees, and establishing an inclusive employment model.

The project will expand to other IHG properties in Thailand, and findings will be used by the Neurodiversity at Work Research Centre to provide actionable insights for businesses aiming to hire inclusively.

This partnership aligns with IHG’s ‘Great DE&I Conversation’ journey, aiming to create an inclusive workforce and serve local communities.

Rajit Sukumaran, Managing Director, South East Asia and Korea, IHG, expressed commitment to have every IHG hotel in Thailand employ people with disabilities.

IHG currently has 30 open hotels in Thailand, with 35 more in the pipeline.
