PBEd’s new workforce development program to upskill Filipino youth

Philippine Business for Education (PBEd), a business-led education advocacy group, has launched a new workforce development program called Future Skills Now (FSN). The program is supported by JP Morgan and aims to empower underprivileged Filipino youth with digital and career proficiencies.

FSN offers 700 young Filipinos in Metro Manila and Cebu work-based training and mentorship by industry experts. The program aims to boost the country’s talent growth by providing training opportunities in technological skills.

PBEd is actively collaborating with local governments and private sector partners to promote digital skills through capacity-building workshops. Local advisory councils will be formed in targeted areas to establish public-private partnerships, identify city-level job needs, and ensure project sustainability.

“The future is here and now. Opportunities abound, when both the public and private sector are engaged. And with our youth showing immense potential, all we need to do is work together to pave the way for a brighter future and a digitally skilled and competitive workforce,” PBEd executive director Justine Raagas said.

The launch of FSN is a timely response to the growing demand for digital skills in the Philippines. The country’s digital economy is expected to grow to $100 billion by 2025, and there is a need to prepare the workforce for the new jobs that will be created.

FSN is a valuable initiative that will help to empower Filipino youth and boost the country’s economic competitiveness.
