A new study by The Economist Impact and Google shows that 42% of Filipino employees want to learn new digital skills related to AI and machine learning, but poor internet access and lack of time are major hurdles.
The study also found that most Filipinos consider AI and ML skills to be the 7th most important digital skill to learn, with IT support and data analysis and visualization topping the list.
Despite the challenges, Google Philippines is committed to helping Filipinos build the skills they need to succeed in the digital economy. The company has launched free generative AI skills development courses and three new digital courses in its Google Career Certificates program.
Google is also partnering with the Philippine government to increase students’ digital literacy and provide training opportunities for workers.
As the Philippines’ digital economy continues to grow, it is more important than ever for Filipinos to have the skills they need to take advantage of the new jobs and opportunities that are being created.
