The 2024-25 HR Stars Awards Malaysia Berhad recently celebrated outstanding achievements in HR practices across the country. Allianz Malaysia is recognised for its dedication to creating an equitable workplace environment—earning the Best Diversity and Inclusion Strategies award.
The journey towards this recognition began when Allianz Malaysia identified a significant challenge within its organisation—the underrepresentation of women in leadership positions. Despite the company’s stated commitment to gender equality, progress in advancing women to senior roles has been slower than anticipated. This realisation emphasised the importance of implementing intentional and measurable diversity efforts rather than simply endorsing diversity principles.
In response, Allianz Malaysia integrated diversity and inclusion (DEI) directly into its core business strategy. This comprehensive approach ensured leadership commitment at all levels and cultivated an inclusive corporate culture throughout the organisation. The company established Allianz Beyond – an employee network of differently-abled employees to ensure their needs are met while promoting disability inclusion, this network aims to raise awareness, improve accessibility, foster a safe space for disability disclosure, and provide tailored workplace support.
To strengthen these initiatives, Allianz Malaysia implemented thorough diversity and inclusion training programmes designed to enhance cultural awareness and reduce unconscious bias among employees. The company further promoted inclusion by introducing flexible work arrangements that support work-life balance while simultaneously attracting and retaining a diverse workforce.
“I am proud of Allianz Malaysia’s recognition for Best Diversity and Inclusion Strategies at the 2024-25 HR Stars Awards. Our commitment to creating an equitable workplace is embodied in initiatives like Allianz Beyond, which champions disability inclusion and provides tailored support. By integrating DEI into our core business strategy and offering diversity training, we aim to foster an inclusive culture that empowers all employees to thrive. This award is a testament to our ongoing efforts to advance diversity and inclusion at every level of our organisation.” — Wong Woon Man, Chief People and Culture Officer, Allianz Malaysia
