As Globe Telecom sought to intensify their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Policy Commitment, the company joined forces with nonprofit Metro Manila Pride to further engage its employees in developing a greater understanding for gender diversity and deeper respect for all gender identities.
The Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Gender Expression (SOGIE) 101/Sensitivity Training is cascaded to all employees of the Philippine telecommunications giant. It covers essential topics such as the country’s SOGIE Equality Bill, which recognises that every person is to be afforded their fundamental rights regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity. These training sessions include concrete examples of gender-related situations across different Globe departments, as well as practical approaches to applying concepts of the SOGIE Bill to the Philippine setting.
In facilitating SOGIE 101/Sensitivity Training, the company seeks not only to ensure that all of its employees are treated with dignity and respect, but also to equip every member of the workforce with the proper perspective in dealing with any person without any discrimination or prejudice.
“We are actively working towards creating more programs that align with our goal of ensuring a safe and inclusive working environment for our employees. This training is just one of the steps we’re taking in our journey towards a more inclusive Globe,” said DJ Permalino, Labor Relations Manager.
