Case in Point: How Kredivo fosters trust and belonging in the workplace

When Kredivo Group decided to level up their workplace culture and environment, the company launched #Ngajak, an initiative that encourages like-minded employees to form interest groups and even provides funding thereof for activities and employee-led initiatives.

#Ngajak from the Indonesian word for “invite,” essentially drawing employees (referred to as KrediKrew) to share and express their interests through mutual activities like sporting events and charity donation drives.

Some of these include fitness classes and basketball and futsal groups, where employees not only bond together but also engage with other sports teams in friendly competition. Just last year, the #Ngajak-Futsal group garnered second place at the Dana Cup, a mini soccer competition among tech companies. As part of #Ngajak, the company showed their support by sponsoring registration fees and team jerseys. Other KrediKrew were also rallied to show their support for their futsal players.

As activities under #Ngajak are employee-led, they help foster a strong sense of empowerment and ownership among KrediKrew that includes not only their work tasks but also the relationships they have in the workplace. As these organically create a high level of trust and belonging, the company sees smoother collaboration, more open communication, and overall a more conducive environment for work success.

As it also helps to ensure that employees feel engaged within the company, this initiative contributed to 95.8% of the KrediKrew feeling that they can thrive and grow within the organisation as revealed in their 2022 employment engagement survey.

“Did my first spin class today and it was…intense,” wrote Sze Foong, Head of Talent and Development, on LinkedIn. “Fun to share the pain with #KrediKrew though. Thanks #Ngajak!”
