Dell cuts ‘sales’ employees amid partner-centric strategy shift

Dell, a prominent player in the technology industry, has been known for its direct sales approach, which involves selling its products and solutions directly to customers. However, recent developments have prompted the company to reconsider its sales model in favor of a partner-centric approach.

According to CRN report, as part of this strategic shift, Dell has revealed its intention to reduce the size of its sales teams. They did not confirm whether the layoff is part of the 6,650 job cuts they announced earlier this year.

While exact figures remain undisclosed, the company’s decision to downsize is seen as a necessary step in aligning its workforce with the evolving business strategy. In a statement, a Dell spokesperson explained, “Our decision to make changes in our sales teams is driven by our strategic goal to enhance collaboration with our partners and optimize our sales approach. We remain committed to delivering exceptional value to our customers and partners, and this realignment is a crucial step toward achieving that goal.”

In February, Dell laid off 6,500 employees, approximately 5% of their entire workforce.
