Employees’ wellbeing in daily banking operations

AFFIN Bank Berhad secured the Best Health and Wellness Initiatives crown at the 2025–2026 HR Stars Awards Malaysia, highlighting how an organisation can successfully integrate physical and mental health programmes into its daily corporate rhythm. Rather than treating corporate wellness as a passive employee perk, the bank has built a structured, preventative health ecosystem designed to sustain workforce energy, build cognitive resilience, and unlock long-term business performance.

To put this approach into real, day-to-day action, the bank moved away from isolated health events in favour of a long-term enterprise partnership with the personalised care and digital health platform, Naluri. Through this integrated portal, employees are provided with continuous, confidential access to mental health counsellors, executive coaches, and professional career advisors. The bank backs up this online ecosystem with regular community learning sessions, running specialised panel webinars like “The Power of ‘Why’ in Wellbeing” and targeted fireside chats focused on building a resilient workplace mindset. This data-backed approach provides staff with practical tools to manage day-to-day work stress, reframe negative thoughts, and master psychological flexibility.

The bank went beyond basic awareness programmes by building dedicated wellness spaces straight into its corporate headquarters at Menara Affin @ TRX. The crown jewel of this infrastructure strategy is the Level 27 VIBE Lounge, which serves as a functional sanctuary for employee micro-recovery and relationship-building. Inside this knowledge and idea centre, staff members have access to private sleeping pods and specialised massage chairs to counteract physical fatigue, alongside casual social zones featuring pool tables, gaming consoles, karaoke rooms, and a golf putting area. Physical fitness is supported through group workout sessions, such as organised Tabata training and cross-departmental sports tournaments like the DRS Handball Challenge Cup, held at the bank’s on-site sports facility named the Stadium of Dreams.

The bank reinforces its operational commitment to employee care through comprehensive healthcare interventions, combining fully covered basic screenings and on-site medical check-ups with specialised wellness forums. This holistic framework proves to the wider financial sector that organisations operate at their peak when employee wellbeing is designed with genuine purpose.
