Brainstorming - Eva Wong: CHINT Global employees challenge the limits of innovation

In this installment, Wong talks further about the company’s values and best practices. She also reveals what CHINT Global looks for in its future employees.

“Same as the future of work, a future employee is adaptable in managing challenges and the novelty of the smart energy industry, passionate about pushing the boundaries of innovation, and open to new ideas and challenges without losing sight of their (and the company’s) goals and objectives,” Wong enumerates.

She stressed further that they actively identify candidates with traits that align with their core value of “boundless” co-creation or people who will challenge the limits of innovation.

Wong shared about the Integrity and Compliance Programme (ICP) and some practical applications of these company values and pillars.

“We view ICP as the cornerstone of sustainable enterprise development with three key pillars. The first pillar holds all employees to the highest international standards relating to business conduct and engineering standard operational policies.

“The second pillar is our risk and management assessment procedure to identify, prioritise, and assign accountability for managing existing or potential misconduct-related threats.

“The third pillar is our ICP Task Force, which brings together the Compliance Department, the Legal Department, the Board of Supervisors, and the ICP Ambassadors.”

As the HR Head, her role belongs to the second pillar. “I am the ear to the ground about the challenges our employees face daily, to pinpoint where accountability should lie for the various functions in our business, and provide strategic counsel on possible ICP violations.”

Wong admitted that her HR experience has shown that integrity and compliance within the management level are critical. Their views and actions influence everyone.

For Wong, the genuineness of the leadership team and its open-minded culture set the company apart. “The team loves challenging each other intellectually. Our training and meetings are open discussions and collaboration forums. We also hold friendly competitions so employees can share out-of-this-world ideas.”

Wong added that the company rewards significant breakthroughs and innovation and emphasises talent development through overseas job rotations for key positions. “Giving our employees opportunities in different markets and cultures helps them become global citizens who do not limit their ideas and innovations.”
