NET TV has announced a significant workforce reduction through employee layoffs. In a disclosure to the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), the free-to-air broadcasting company is currently undergoing adjustments and evaluations, including human resource management.
As a result, approximately 30% of the company’s total workforce was affected by the layoffs which started on September 11 to September 15, 2023.
The company has cited government policy changes related to the transition from analog to digital television broadcasting as the primary reason for the layoffs. These regulatory changes have reduced the need for human resources in certain areas of operation and have created opportunities for efficiency in specific work functions.
Based on the financial report released by NET TV, the company had 910 permanent employees as of June 30, 2023. Calculated based on this data, the layoffs will affect approximately 273 employees.
NET TV’s management has assured that they are committed to ensuring that all rights of affected employees are met in accordance with applicable regulations. “The company also continues to focus on its priorities to ensure that it can continue to operate at its maximum potential,” the announcement further stated.
