In a unique approach to digital transformation, Singapore’s outgoing Government Technology Agency (GovTech) CEO, Kok Ping Soon, led the ‘Smart Nation Fellows’ programme to attract top tech talent and drive public service innovation.
The initiative, launched during Kok’s five-year tenure, saw mid-career technologists from the private sector collaborate with experienced public sector professionals, creating impactful digital solutions while learning from each other.
Kok emphasised the importance of not confining these talented individuals to predefined roles, but allowing them the autonomy to shape their contributions.
This approach, combined with a balance between centralisation and customisation, has helped Singapore maintain its position as a global digital leader.
As Kok transitions to his new role as CEO of the Singapore Business Federation, his innovative methods and leadership continue to influence Singapore’s digital journey.
