Around seven out of ten elderly Singaporean employees earned less than $2,500 monthly last year, the latest data from the Ministry of Manpower has revealed.
Over the course of 2022, 31% of Singaporean residents aged 65 or above were still employed in some capacity.
Of these, 68.7% earned a monthly income of less than SGD 2,500. Within this group, 57.5% or 81,900 worked full-time.
Meanwhile, approximately 27,000 elderly employees earned between SGD 2,500 and SGD 3,000, while 37,800 earned at least SGD 4,000 per month.
Singapore recently launched its Training and Adult Education Industry Transformation Map to help its ageing population find good employment even beyond the traditional retirement age.
