Malaysia tackles youth workforce skills mismatch with various initiatives

Malaysia’s Ministry of Human Resources (MOHR) has implemented several initiatives to address the increasing skills mismatch among the country’s youth workforce, particularly women.

The MYFutureJobs portal has been introduced for better job matching, while Pertubuhan Keselamatan Sosial (PERKESO) collaborates with multiple ministries and agencies to enhance job opportunities.

Furthermore, regular career and job carnivals are conducted nationwide, resulting in employment for 181,106 youths, including 94,426 young women, between January 2022 and March 2023.

PERKESO’s Employment Insurance System offers programs to improve human capital and employee marketability.

The JaminKerja-Insentif Penggajian program incentivizes employers to hire unemployed women, and the HRD Corp’s Digital Skills Training program targets vulnerable groups, including women, providing them with digital skills training.

Additionally, MOHR highlighted online learning platform e-LATiH and TalentCorp’s Women-Industry Network program, which focus on skill improvement and mentoring for female talent.
