Male employees in Singapore more worried about job security, report says

Male employees in Singapore are reportedly experiencing higher levels of anxiety regarding job security compared to their female counterparts, according to a recent report by ADP.

Yvonne Teo, Vice President of HR, APAC, ADP, this perception from male employees can be attributed to their role as primary breadwinners in the family, the lay-offs happening at high-profile companies, and even the talk about AI replacing people’s job.

“It is also worth noting that employees’ perception of job security may not be reflective of the actual financial or automation state of the company, so it is important for employers to continuously build trust; assure their staff that they are valued; that their efforts are recognised; and provide development opportunities to prepare for the future, both from the workers and employers’ perspectives,” Teo said

It’s crucial for employees to welcome and acknowledge the growing presence of AI and machine learning in the workplace. Embracing lifelong learning, upskilling, and reskilling is essential to ensure their continued relevance in the evolving landscape, she emphasised.
