MALAYSIA: The investment will be used towards developing its mobile app technology, marketing, and working capital to further expand its business in the region.
Digital employment platform, Troopers Malaysia, has received a Series A funding round of MYR 4 million (USD 950,000) from local marketing firm Shooper360.
Troopers Malaysia offers a mobile app that matches job seekers to part-time opportunities. It was launched in June this year and believes it offers employers access to a wide talent pool of potential part-time workers, as well as recruitment, payroll, and training services.
“Mobile continues to be a major platform for people to consume media, shop, and pay for goods and services. Therefore, it is only natural that we allow people to also search for jobs and short-term work through a mobile app. We see ample synergies with Shopper360 to grow our business further,” said Joshua Tan, Founder, and CEO of Troopers.”
The app was launched in June 2021, but Troopers was actually founded on a website platform in 2017. It says it helped 100,000 candidates over those four years. But since the introduction of the mobile app in June of this year, Troopers has generated more than 35,000 users and placed more than 20,000 candidates into jobs worth an equivalent of MYR 1.2 million.
Malaysia’s technology industry continues to rise even during the Covid-19 pandemic, and HR applications are making up a great deal of the new startups there.
