Philippines poised to become major player in data centre industry

STT GDC Philippines, under the leadership of its CEO Carlo-magno E. Malana, is anticipating a surge in demand for data centres.

In an interview, Malana pointed out that as digitalisation accelerates worldwide, the need for data centres increases.

He argued that the Philippines, due to its strategic location at the nexus of submarine cables, is well-placed to satisfy this burgeoning need.

Highlighting the country’s proximity to key markets like China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, the US, and Guam, he proposed that the Philippines is ideally located to become a significant player in this industry.

Furthermore, the company is partnering with local schools to create a digital infrastructure specialisation.

This initiative is designed to prepare future talent for the industry, aligning with the Department of Information and Communications Technology’s focus on talent development.

Malana’s forward-looking strategy outlines a promising future for the Philippines in the global data centre business.
