Polytechnic graduates finding themselves in high demand

An overwhelming majority of graduates from Singapore’s top polytechnic schools, or 91.8%, find employment within six months of graduation or completion of full-time National Service.

The results of the 2022 Polytechnic Graduate Employment Survey, which had a respondent pool of 11,253 fresh graduates from last year, and 8,738 graduates from 2019 who completed their full-time National service between April 2021 and March 2022.

Among those who had joined the workforce, 59% were hired in full-time permanent positions. The median gross monthly salary for these employees was $2,600.

Another 26.9% were hired in part-time or temporary employment. Around half of the graduates employed in part-time or temporary positions were concurrently pursuing or preparing to begin further studies.

“Our polytechnic graduates continue to play a key role to augment Singapore’s manpower demands,” said Jeanne Liew, principal and CEO of Nanyang Polytechnic.

“The healthy employment rate and increase in median salary for both the fresh and post-National Service graduates reflect employers’ trust that our graduates are equipped with the necessary skills and competencies to excel in the workplace.”
