The survey, conducted in March 2023, polled 500 working professionals and business owners aged 20-64 across six Southeast Asian countries.

Only 49% of respondents believed their company actively considers workplace diversity in recruitment and hiring practices.

In Singapore and Malaysia, the numbers were even lower, with 27% and 23% respectively disagreeing that equal opportunities exist for all employees.

Workers in these countries also expressed doubt that all employees are appraised equally, with 27% in Singapore and 23% in Malaysia disagreeing.

In contrast, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Thailand saw higher satisfaction rates regarding equal opportunities.

The study also found that DEI policies and initiatives rank among the top five considerations when job seekers choose an employer, emphasizing the importance of an inclusive culture in attracting and retaining talent.
