Singapore organisations embrace inclusive hiring with government support

Singaporean organisations are increasingly embracing inclusive hiring practices, with the government providing support through schemes such as the Enabling Employment Credit (EEC). The EEC provides employers with up to 20% wage support for disabled employees earning below SGD $4,000 per month, with a cap at SGD $400 per month per employee.

In 2022, 6,600 organisations received wage credits that supported the employment of over 10,000 disabled people. This is a significant increase from previous years, and it is a testament to the growing commitment of Singaporean businesses to diversity and inclusion.

A number of organisations have benefited from the EEC, including the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and the Enabling Academy. The STB has used the EEC to hire disabled people for a variety of roles, including customer service representatives, tour guides, and event planners. The Enabling Academy has used the EEC to hire disabled people as trainers and instructors.

Both organisations have found that disabled employees are often highly motivated and productive, and they bring a unique perspective to the workplace. The STB has also found that hiring disabled people has helped it to improve its customer service, as disabled employees are often able to connect with customers on a personal level.
