Singapore outshines Tokyo and Hong Kong in new city ranking

Singapore has clinched the 6th spot globally in the inaugural Brand Finance City Index, a survey measuring perceptions of the world’s top 100 cities.

Singapore was recognised for its stellar performance in several areas, including local and remote work, investment, and environmental responsibility.

The city-state was commended for its heavy investment in education and its strategic location as the gateway to the Asia-Pacific region.

This survey was conducted in April 2023, polling nearly 15,000 members of the public from 20 countries on all continents.

Alex Haigh, Managing Director of Brand Finance Asia, praised Singapore’s world-class infrastructure and investment opportunities, citing the city-state as a global leader setting the economic pace.

He also highlighted the positive impact of tourism on regional economic growth.

Meanwhile, other ASEAN cities, including Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and Jakarta, also featured in the ranking, with positions at 47th, 53rd, and 70th respectively.
