Singaporean firms embrace distributed workforce for talent and profitability

Singaporean companies are increasingly adopting distributed workforces to address talent gaps and improve profitability, according to a recent IDC InfoBrief.

Sponsored by Remote, the study found over 50% of Singapore’s small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) and mid-market firms plan to hire 20-30% of new employees remotely in the next year.

Singapore ranked second in international hiring maturity among surveyed Asia-Pacific countries, including Australia, India, and New Zealand.

The greatest challenge for Singaporean firms is finding the right skill sets in target countries, alongside enhancing employer brand and understanding compliance requirements in international markets.

The report also revealed 31% of companies use Employer of Record (EOR) platforms for onboarding and managing global workforces, helping businesses navigate local compliance, payroll, benefits, and taxes.

Remote’s CEO, Job van der Voort, stated that companies tapping into the international talent pool would gain a significant advantage over those that do not.
