According to a survey by Millieu Insight (partnered with She Loves Data), around 57% of female Indonesian employees plan to switch careers in the next five years.

The survey defined a “career switch” as changing to an occupation that was different from the one they were currently in.
Meanwhile, 47% of Malaysian and Filipino women plan to make career switches, followed by 45% of Thai women and 36% of Vietnamese women.
Singaporean women seem to be the most confident with their current career trajectories in Southeast Asia, with only 30% planning to change courses in the next five years.
“We’re currently facing a dynamic job market, reflected in our study where 25% and 17% of women in the region have changed occupations or industries respectively in the past year,” Millieu Insight senior researcher Antarika Sen said. “Our research also reveals that among women in the region, the top motivators for enrolling in a professional course this year were: the desire to improve job performance (59% of respondent indicated this was a driver in their decision), the chance to increase future job prospects (44%), and to make the most of their free time (39%).”
The survey had a respondent pool of 1,000 employees each from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines. It was conducted between December 20 last year and January 10 this year.
