Paul Howell, managing director of Chief of Staff Asia, explains everything there is to know about the upcoming HR Stars Awards, taking place in Singapore between April and June, 2023.
Here at Chief of Staff Asia, we are extremely proud of our tagline, and seek to live up to it in everything we do. For the love of HR is about ensuring we consistently offer lasting value, and engaging stories for the HR community here in Southeast Asia, so that everyone can learn and grow from that shared experience.
We think our regular news and insights, research papers, and one-on-one interviews have been doing exactly that over the past 18 months since Chief of Staff Asia launched, but we are now set to add a compelling new element.
Chief of Staff Asia’s inaugural HR Stars Awards will launch in early April, 2023, with nominations to be accepted across 12 different categories in Singapore, and five categories in each of Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam.
A 13th category – a grand prize for The Employer of Choice in Singapore – will celebrate all-round achievement across the full spectrum of HR and workforce management.
Not only is this awards program among the most comprehensive available here in Southeast Asia, it is also one of the most accessible. Chief of Staff Asia, together with its presenting partners, will be seeking nominations from all organisations, large and small. Nominations are free — now and for forever — and there are no charges for those selected as finalists, or the eventual winners of each trophy.Â
Two levels of judging
A nine-person strong judging panel, featuring specialist practitioners, expert commentators, and former award-winning Chief HR Officers, will adjudicate across a two-tiered assessment process. Up to four finalists will be short-listed in each of the categories, after the nominations close in mid-May. From there, those finalists will make a second and final submission, based on specific follow-up questions from the judges.
The winners, from both Singapore and around the region, will be announced across Chief of Staff Asia‘s numerous platforms in early July, 2023.
Along with the prestige of winning in the premier recognition opportunity for HR professionals, winners will receive an exclusive trophy and certification package. The winner of the Employer of Choice award will also take advantage of an exclusive content promotion package that will help share their achievements across the wider business community, adding further value to an already strong employer brand.
Nominations open soon
The HR Stars Awards will seek out and celebrate excellence in the fields of HR and workforce management, They will recognise both individuals and companies who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in each of the far-reaching categories, listed below and all tailored to today’s complex business environment. We aim to make these the premier recognition opportunity for HR professionals, and the only award that carries its weight throughout the region, and indeed around the world.

As noted above, this is one of our ways of giving back to the HR community here in Singapore, and across Southeast Asia. We hope the awards will showcase the amazing breadth of HR practice and innovation in this part of the world, and draw out some otherwise unheralded stories of achievement and success. On behalf of Chief of Staff Asia, I thank all HR professionals in this region for their continued support; and encourage your nominations in the upcoming HR Stars Awards programme.
